History of the Vermont Snuggler™ Fleece Hood

The Vermont Snuggler™ Fleece Hood was born on a really cold Vermont day when a husband who loved his red felt woodsman’s hat, couldn’t find a hood to wear under that hat.  He searched everywhere but couldn’t find a hood that comfortably met all of his needs.  There were hoods with seams up the middle of the head, leaving a point sticking up at the back of the head. His hat wouldn’t sit right.  There were hoods with drawstrings that tied in the back of the head.  He couldn’t wear his hat with those - he’d get stabbed in the back of the head with a clip or have a knot (lot’s of fun!) trap him inside the hood.  He hated the drawstrings dangling and whipping him in the face if he moved his head quickly.  He despised getting poked in the cheekbone with little plastic barrel locks.  He couldn’t be bothered with silly little face masks that you had to fasten on and off.  He wanted something long enough to keep the wind out of his neck.

His wife took pity on the poor man and went to the drawing board.  She designed a hood that fit the curves of a head.  Its circular crown (with no point on top!) snuggled the head so her husband’s faithful old hat would still fit.  The hood was made with no drawstrings, making it comfortable and safe to wear under under any hat - from an old felt hat to a snowmobile helmet, a construction hard hat or a motorcycle helmet. He could also use the hood over a baseball cap so that cap won’t blow off.  The bottom of the hood flipped up to become a facemask, covering the nose and mouth and giving an extra layering over the ears if he wanted it.  Even with the bottom flipped up, the hood is long enough to keep the wind out of the neck.  Lastly, the hood was made with cuddly, soft polar fleece by Malden Mills and since Malden Mills Fleece is hydrophobic (it hates moisture) wicking moisture away from the skin keeping you dryer and warmer.

Success!  The husband loved his hood.  His friends all loved his hood and wanted one of their own.  Thus was born the Vermont Snuggler™ Fleece Hood, and marital bliss reigns once again!
